Going natural is a huge decision to stop using hair perms/relaxers. It is interesting to know that more and more women are embracing their natural hair these days. This is because a lots of people are aware of the damages caused by chemical relaxers to hair which is giving them a second thought about the product. Did you miss my post on the damages caused by hair relaxers, read HERE. So if your hair is re already relaxed and you are thinking of how to go natural, there are two options available for you:
THE BIG CHOP
This is probably the easiest way to go, all you have to do is to cut ALL relaxed hair off. Then you start growing your hair all over again from its root. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing a low hair cut at this stage, you can reach out couple of nice wigs to enhance your look.
TRANSITIONING
If you are not bold enough to do the big chop, you can transition gradually. This might be very frustrating option as you will have to deal with two different hair textures.
Some of the tips that might help you in transitioning include:
- Stop using chemical relaxers on your hair
- Do not trim very often until all your hair are all-natural
- Do not use any form of heat
- Be careful around the line where your natural hair and relaxed hair meet, that’s where it’s the weakest
